About

Capturing moments & places around the world

Artist & Illustrator

I’m an Amsterdam-based multimedia artist and illustrator specializing in travel, landscape, and visual storytelling. My work captures the essence of places, architecture, people, and remote natural landscapes through sketching, gouache, ink, coloured pencils, and pastels. I’m not shy of using many layers, textures and lots of scribbles in my work!

I’ve been drawing and painting since childhood, but after a long gap I picked up my practice in adult life whilst recovering from a brain injury.

Creativity plays a huge role in my life now, not only for the joy of creating and working with different clients, but also for the sense of calm and equilibrium it brings.

My career prior to illustration has been focused on behavioural research, but I back in 2021 I went back to University to study Visual Communication at Kingston University, London. It pushed me to record and observe in many different ways!

Sketchbooks & on location drawing

Sketchbooks are at the heart of my process, often from drawing or painting on location. These observations and sketches form the foundation of many of my final pieces. I find being in a space and recording it gives a whole new depth to my artwork. The experience is imprinted in each mark and brush-stroke.

I like to layer my illustrations with textures and different types of mark-making to convey the energy and emotions of the scenes I record.

When I’m not in Amsterdam you’ll find me camping in quieter parts of the Netherlands (believe it or not, there are some!) or hiking in the mountains in remote places in the world with my sketchbook in hand.
